Zespół poznałem tylko dlatego ze basista z tool'a na ostatnim krążku zespoły wystąpił gościnnie i z ciekawości ściągnołem sobie ich album aby posłuchać co zespół gra. Odrazu mi ich muzyka przypadła do gustu. Szkoda ze nie zagrają przed Tool'em bo się już nastawiłem na ich koncert przed gwiazdą wieczoru no nic mówi się trudno i ważne ze tool gra \m/

ja poznałam ich dopiero kiedy dowiedziałam się o koncercie Tool'a...fakt, spodobało mi się bardzo, nastawiłam się na dwa odjazdowe koncerty, ale cóż...może dadzą też coś fajnego jeszcze jako supporcik, oby Smile

Summer News (DVD! LIVE 4 CD! IN THE FISHTANK CD!)

Hey Everybody....

We've wrapped up the east coast leg of this spring tour and it couldn't of been better. Well, maybe Richmond could have been, but even that turned out ok. Thanks to eveyone who came out to be a part of the shows, we know a good number you travelled a long way, we appreciate it. Bear hugs again to Zombi and Dalek who killed it every night as well as being great friends and tourmates.

So we finally got the LIVE 4 CD together and will have a limited number of them available from our webstore soon. This volume is a compilation of songs from different shows over the past 6 years or so, with some older songs, a couple newer extended line-up songs, and a live improv 'jam.'

The DVD is in production and will be out in August thanks to Ipecac Recordings, as well as the In the Fishtank CD we recorded with Aereogramme last year in the Netherlands. The exact date and US distribution are still to be determined, but it will be available on Konkurrent in Europe.

We will be playing a handful of Europe shows and UK shows in July, including a performance at All Tomorrow's Parties' "Don't Look Back" series, where we will be performing OCEANIC in it's entirety. Dates will be posted in the next few days. We will also be performing at this years FUJI ROCK FEST in Japan with Mogwai and a shitload of other bands.

Be sure to check out MGR performing with Pelican and MONO tonite May 10th at the First Unitarian Church in Philly, and as a part of the Dalek / Destructo Swarmbots / MGR Big Band performing at Irving Plaza in NYC on May 14th.

Other than that, it's time to get the writing finished seeing as we enter the studio in less than a month.

NEW RECORD!! SUMMER/FALL ISIS TOUR W/ TOOL!!!

Summer Salutations Everyone!

So the new record is complete. We finished mixing a few days ago, and although we are reluctant to divulge much about it at this point, we will reveal that its comprised of 8 songs, a little over an hour of music. Ipecac Recordings will once again be releasing the CD, and the expected release date is Halloween, Oct. 31st.

We should have dates up soon for a full US tour beginning August 22nd opening for our mates TOOL. We are also planning a full US Headlining tour for after the record comes out in November and December, so we WILL be coming to a town near you soon enough.

The LIVE 4 CD is now out of our hands and at our webstore waiting for the good people there to sort out the particulars but anyway keep checking. If you aren't familiar with the HYDRAHEAD / ISIS webstore, they will often offer special deals with a CD and T-SHIRT and so forth and so on and we have done something similar with the LIVE 4 CD, hence the delay. It will be worth the wait, we promise. By the way, the ISIS LIVE CD series is something we do ourselves, and where the previous 3 releases consisted of complete sets, this 4th CD includes a variety of performances from 7 or 8 different shows.

We head over seas in a week, and are really looking forward to playing some shows again, as well as seeing all our friends in Holland, France, and England. We'll have some more exciting news to reveal in the coming weeks so please stay tuned.

On Monday I had a chance to catch up with my friend Aaron Harris, the drummer for ISIS, in order to get some information about the band’s plans as support for Tool during the Summer/Fall tour. After lunch at BeniHana in Encino, drinks at the “Fox & Hounds” pub (consisting of various ales and snakebites), Coronas and margaritas at my place and then more drinks and dinner at “Firefly”(yes, we both ordered the ‘Secret’ Burger), I felt like I had enough… material for a pretty decent news post. Before continuing, I would just like to add that Aaron was right on time for our lunch meeting (although walking the wrong way when I first spotted him), a good quality which he shares with another drummer who is a good friend of mine, and one that tour managers greatly appreciate (just ask Craig).

BMB: What are you going to order?

AH: The lunch trio.

BMB: Damn, me, too, but with iced tea to drink. Do you have time for a beer at the pub afterwards?

AH: Sure!

BMB: So did you tell me that you’re leaving for Europe this Saturday?

AH: We’re (ISIS) playing in Amsterdam on July 17, followed by a few more dates, mostly in the UK including the “DON’T LOOK BACK FESTIVAL” at KOKO (Sunday, July 23) where we’re going to play the entire “OCEANIC” CD live. We’re also doing the FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL in Japan on July 30th (on the ‘White Stage’ at the Naeba ski resort in Niigata).

BMB: Any shows in Iceland?

AH: I wish!.. because of all he ***** (NOTE: his answer had nothing to do with women, but something about his and the other band members fondness for puffin, this being a colorful bird of sorts that can be sautéed and consumed which you probably can’t… or, rather, shouldn’t do with Icelandic women.)

BMB: What about the new CD? Care to divulge the title?

AH: Not yet,,, but the release date is Halloween.

BMB: Fine, but there’s no track called “Vicarious” or “Vicarious Atonement” or anything to do with “Vicarious” on it, right? All right, so it’s some mysterioso concept record that will be released on October 31 with 5 words in the title. Anything special planned for the tour with Tool?

AH: What are you writing about the Iceland question?.. We’ll be playing some old stuff and a variety of new stuff. It would be fun if some of guys (in Tool) joined us on stage.

BMB: Members of Tool joining you on stage… Yes, that would be fun. Did any of you sign a pact with the devil (the Magisterulus) to get this gig, even if not a Professio Expressa?

AH: Maybe.

BMB: Ah, the Professio Tacita. Those sometimes work, too. Speaking of the “devil board”, did you know that a few days after performing at CoacHELLa, the brand new engine in Danny’s pickup truck blew up on Malibu canyon. A mechanic said that it didn’t have any oil in it, but all of us who read the April 2006 e.v. newsletter know what really happened. What kind of beer will you guys have on the contract rider?

AH: Why?

BMB: I have my reasons.

AH: Sierra Nevada, Stella, Red Stripe… and Budweiser.

BMB: Red Stripe... Stella, huh… okay, that works.

AH: We also have a new DVD coming out on August 22 called “CLEARING THE EYE.” It’s on the Ipecac label and has live footage… nine years of stuff… a video… and some other things…

BMB: A DVD you say… a live dvd… Tool should do that… I wonder why nobody ever thought of that. I’ll bet some Tool fans would like that… a live dvd…. Huh… What’s your armadillo count?

AH: What?

BMB: How many armadillos do you think you’ll squash in Texas as you play the three shows there? You know, the ‘dillo count?

AH: Nine.

BMB: Nine? Dasypus novemcinctus or other? You see what happens when you sign a pact with the devil… even a Professio Tacita… You’re on a big shiny tour coach now… not riding in a couple of vans, and, truth be known, sometimes with vans the armadillo wins. But nine! You could squash nine of the little tanks on you bicycle. I’d go with a baker’s dozen if I were a betting man. Here’s a tip: When traveling to Dallas you should stop at Bubba’s barbecue… in Ennis, Texas (on Interstate 45)… unless you just want everyone eating the armadillo roadkill chili on the bus… and I don’t think you want that… the big shiny tour coach isn’t THAT big… and you’re going to need Tabasco which, of course, is very difficult to find in Texas. Be warned, though… Bubba's BBQ doesn’t serve beer… but you should probably have some Budweiser and Sierra Nevada left from the contract rider. Just to help things, Bubba’s isn’t too far from the giant billboard that says, “STOP THE PORN AND GET REBORN” which is right next to the giant porn shop in the middle of nowhere, TX... Just had to bring up the new Isis DVD, didn’t you, Aaron… Are you using Vince’s “Mandala” pads yet?

AH: No, but I’m planning on getting some. I’m still using a Roland sampler for my electronics…

BMB: Well, all I can say is that the Professio Expressa works really well. Anything else you’d like to add that doesn’t include the letters D… V… D?..

AH: While we were in the studio recording the new record, Danny and Justin called from Europe to ask us if we had read the fine print in the contract before agreeing to do the Tool tour. When we said that we didn’t, Danny told us that the fine print said that, during the tour, under no circumstances are we to look them in the eye.

BMB: You’re not supposed to make eye contact with the band members?

AH: Yeah… I guess Prince did this with some band and it worked well for him, so Danny said hopefully it would work well for Tool. Justin then asked, “How many strings does it take to tie a bow?” I’m not sure what he meant by this…

BMB: Well, obviously they were drinking. Even so, I’d keep thinking about that… It might be important. Now, are you still sticking with nine… armadillos? What kind of God, I ask you… gives these poor little creatures armor plating which is totally defenseless against cars and trucks and buses as they jump up into the air in fear before ending up in Isis’ chili? The Lord truly works in mysterious ways in the state of Texas!

AH: Yes… You should come with us on the bus for some shows.

BMB: Sure, you’d like to get those Sierra Nevadas into the silver Coleman, wouldn’t you! They’ll be playing Hendrix on Tool’s bus (even on the decoy bus). Maybe I’ll let you guys borrow “Silver” and I’ll give Tool the gold Coleman to keep at the front of the house… at least in Texas where it’s nice and hot. Now, that you’ve had a few snakebites and such, are you ready to give out the title of the new album? Most Tool readers won’t believe it’s the real title anyway.

AH: We’d like to keep it under wraps for a bit longer.

BMB: C’mon, we’re not curing cancer here! Okay, we’ll just call it “The Hungry Hamburgers From Mars” for now and let people wonder if that’s the actual title. Thanks, Aaron, and I hope things go really well on the upcoming tours… Just remember not to make eye contact with any of the guys in Tool. Now, should we go have a margarita?

After returning from the pub, Aaron played me some of the un-mastered tracks from the new CD entitled… well, I can’t tell you that. I must say that I was very impressed with the new stuff, and quite blown away by the drumming (and this after listening to ELP’s “Tarkus” – speaking of armadillos, and “Tocatta").
